Best Christmas Gifts for Singers

The holidays are upon us and it's the time of year for you to start thinking about gifts for a special singer in your life. I've put together a list of items that either I've used personally and recommend to my students or they come highly recommended from my vocal coaching peers. I also made a video on this, which you can watch here:

Gifts to Promote Vocal Hygiene

VocalEze Voice Saver Kit - $27.99

This brand makes honey and plant based products to help soothe the throat. Their Voice Saver Kit comes with 1 throat spray and 1 flavor of throat lozenges. They have 3 different flavors and each kit is $27.99. A gift like this will especially come in handy during the cold season. Use this link and code voicesaver15 to get 15% off your purchase:

A man holding a BELTBOX on his face

This next gift is a contraption that will help your singer to stay consistent with practicing even when they are in environments where they can't be loud. Whether they don't want to disturb their neighbors or roommates, this vocal dampener can help them to keep singing while being less of a disturbance. You place the BELTBOX over your face while using it and it can lower the volume by up to 30 decibals.

Sparkly Water Bottle - $25.99

Every singer knows it's important to keep your vocal folds hydrated by drinking water. Hydrate your vocal folds in style with this cute, sparkly water bottle! I personally own one of these and it is so fun! I get compliments everywhere I go. They come in a number of different colors, including the sparkly gold color shown here. Purchase here:

Vocal Mist Nebulizer - $118

The most direct way to get moisture to your vocal folds is by using a nebuilzer. The singer would inhale the mist, which would go directly to the vocal folds. The Vocal Mist nebuilzer uses a special saline solution that helps to condition and relax the voice. Using the tool results in less tension when singing, less swelling after a vocally demanding day, and faster recovery times!

Gifts To Improve Vocal Skill

Voice Lessons

If your singer has never has formal training, or if they have and are out of shape, the gift of voice lessons is a great gift! Do some research on coaches in your area or find one online with great reviews and before & afters and get a gift certificate! I'm currently offering a gift card of $120 for a 60 minute virtual voice lesson with me. ($150 value).

SOVT Tool: Singing / Straw -

The Singing / Straw is a semi-occluded vocal tract exercise tool that creates resistance when you sing. This resistance, also called back pressure, takes the load off of the vocal folds while singing and sets them up for the most optimal and efficent sound production. This tool helps with building chest voice, smoothing registers, balancing airflow and so much more.

Singing / Straw offers 3 different sets ranging in price from $49 - $69. If you want to learn more about Straw Phonation click here and use this link to get 10% off your purchase:

My Voice Today Journal - $37

The mind, body and voice are all connected and any tool that helps practice positive mindset around singing will have positive impacts to any singer. We are our own worst critics! This My Voice Today is a daily practice journal that encourages positive mindset and gratitude around singing and can help singers stay focused on their vocal goals. This journal is offered by Singing / Straw and can be found in their accessories tab when you click this link: Use code SINGWITHSHARI10 for 10% off your purchase.

Sing Notebook - $27

Another cute item on the Singing / Straw website. This is a notebook and is a great gift for a singer who might also be a songwriter or who just loves to journal.

This notebook can be found in their accessories tab when you click this link: Use code SINGWITHSHARI10 for 10% off your purchase.

Performance Equipment

Dynamic Microphone - $99

Any singer who is serious about performing should own their own microphone. The Shure SM58 microphone is a commonly used professional grade microphone and is a dynamic cardioid microphone designed specifically for vocals. This microphone is not cordless so the singer would need a mic stand and cables and I've included a link to just the mic and a bundle.

Bundle with mic, stand, cable, microphone bag:

SHURE PGXD24/SM58-X8 Digital Handheld Wireless System with SM58 Vocal Microphone - $389

A wireless microphone is a great tool for a singer who performs a lot and the one I personally use and recommend is the SHURE SM58 wireless mic and receiver. With a combination of superior sound quality, rugged construction, and an iconic design, the Shure SM58 stands as a solid investment for singers seeking a professional-grade microphone that consistently delivers exceptional results.

Home Studio Equipment

A home studio set up is a great investment for a singer who wants to get familiar with recording their own material -or even covers. For every home studio set up you will need a computer, Digital Audio Workstation (or DAW), condenser microphone, headphones and recording software. Though not a necessity you might also want to get studio monitors. These are what I have in my own home studio.

Pro Tools Recording Software

The recording software that I currently use and have used for the past 15 years is called Pro Tools. Pro Tools is the industry standard and there are many different licenses and subscriptions available. To learn more about Pro Tools and to purchase a subscription or license visit

AKG C214 Microphone - $299

I use this microphone in all of my social media singing content and it produces a smooth, high quality and professional sound. It is the baby brother to the AKG 414 which is a much heavier investment.

Digital Audio Workstation: Volt 2 Audio Interface - $169

For a professional grade sound going into your recording software you will want to have a quality DAW and the Volt 2 by Universal Audio is just that. It has a number of different settings including the vintage button that adds a unique sound to the vocal as it goes into the recording software. This unit comes with free Universal Audio plugins which enhances the vocal.

 DAW: Volt 2 Audio Interface:

Sterling Audio MX5 5" Powered Studio Monitor, Black - $79/ea.

There are a lot of options when it comes to studio monitors. I really love the ones pictured here. I use them in my home studio. They are aesthetically pleasing and the audio quality is great.

Sennheiser HD280 PRO Headphones - $79

I have owned this set of head phones since 2015 and have only had to replace the inside sponges once about a year ago because they started peeling. The sound quality is great and they have a comfortable fit.

Studio Recording Microphon Isolation Shield with Pop Filter & Tripid Stand - $69

An isolation shield like the one pictured helps to minimize outside noise from being captured on the recording. The pop filter is a necessity to prevent sounds in speech like plosives from muddying the recording.

A cool feature about this one in particular is that it also includes a stand where you can place your music or lyrics when recording.
